Action Asia makes SOPA shortlists

The region’s favourite outdoors and adventure travel magazine, Action Asia, was again recognised for its editorial quality at the recent SOPA 2014 awards, being shortlisted for Excellence in Magazine Design and Excellence in Feature Photography.

The September/October 2013 issue finished in the top three in the design category, won ultimately by Silverkris magazine; while a photo essay on Siberia’s Nenets people by multiple award-winner Alessandra Meniconzi in our May/June 2013 issue lost out to features from industry heavyweights Time Asia (Award) and Reuters (Honourable Mention).

Action Asia has previously garnered several top prizes and honourable mentions at the SOPA (Society of Publishers in Asia) Awards. Held annually since 1999, the awards embrace both traditional print and new media, including such newspapers as The International New York Times, Wall Street Journal Asia, South China Morning Post and The Straits Times; magazines such as Time, Bloomberg Businessweek and the various regional offerings of Time Out , as well as prominent online news channels.
