Hey, i was wondering whether Hong Kong offered any tandem sky diving trips? Would love to hear any trips that anyone out there has done in or near the region.
Has anyone done the Macau Tower skyjump or bungee jump? Thoughts?
Working for AA as I have for quite quite a while I can tell you this is one of the most common questions we are asked.
While the Brits were here you could jump at the Shek Kong base. Sadly that is no longer possible.
Instead, I know some people go into China which is close of course, though perhaps there are language issues involved. Maybe someone else here can offer a specific name and place.
If you wanted to learn to skydive, Australia would be a good place to try (though obviously it's a long way to go just to make a single jump).
Elsewhere in Asia, parachuting is closely controlled and is still regarded as hazardous and a quasi-military thing to do. One exception is Saipan and Guam where I think you can do tandems. A bonus there is the great views of tropical islands below you.
Macau is obviously very diff to the more 'natural' feel of skydiving elsewhere. It's super-accessible though if your point is pure thrill-seeking.
A couple of years ago there was a cool event that took place right downtown and hundreds of people did tandem jumps. We had it on the cover.
Today though that landing site is a building site. If you want to skydive you are best advised to head for Indonesia - or Australia if you have the bucks and prefer the extra safety factor that jumping there might give you.
