Guys, campaign against this harmful habit of eating shark fins soup. Singapore Airlines has shown the way by banning all shark fins soup from its flights. Put pressure on the remaining hotels and restaurants promoting such evil trade. I am Chinese and I do not consider it at all as part of my culture!
See more info on: www.oceana.org/sharks
Sharks play a vital role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems and their stocks are in serious trouble. Yet, more than one hundred million sharks are killed by commercial fisheries every year. They are intentionally harvested for their fins, meat, or liver oil and they are incidentally caught as bycatch in fisheries targeting other species.
Sharks are highly migratory and regularly cross national boundaries. However, outside of Antarctica, there are no international limits on shark harvest. With increasing demand for shark fin soup, and little protection, sharks worldwide are at great risk. Immediate action is needed to protect sharks.
Say NO to shark fin soup! Spread the word, thanks! LWC

In HK, WWF runs a list of companies that have pledged that their employees will not consume shark's fin. http://www.wwf.org.hk/eng/conservation/seafood/sharkfin/company.php
If you are reading this and live in HK, could you get your company to add their name to this list?

I strongly agree not to eat anymore of this shark fin soup...., SAY NO MORE! but however, as i know that in Chinese (Hong Kong) local culture, they do have a substitute which is called "shark fin in a little bowl" or "Fake Shark Fin soup" or in Chinese "???", I think there is nothing wrong with the Fake Shark Fin Soup and in fact, it taste good! Let's take a look:
Real Shark Fin Soup:
and the tasty Fake Shark Fin Soup (~$5.00HKD):
Lets have the fake shark fin soup instead..!

I had an idea about something we can do to start our own campaign and spread the word. Every time we go to a restaurant that serves sharks fin soup, we come here and post their name, location and website (if they have one). If the guys at Action Asia are ok with that, we could start a separate topic that is solely for names of restaurants and companies that condone this abominable act/dish. A list of shame if you will.
Let?s make some noise, it begins with us!

Good, saw the list on the AA forum and will keep feeding it with names of restaurants and hotels that support this shameful trade,
Cant believe that so many of the Top 5* hotels are still serving shark fin soup within their premisses. Peninsula, Four Seasons, Regent, to name a few. A disgrace.
Get the campaign going and growing. LWC

There is a petition on the web.
https://community.hsus.org/campaign/hsi_ind_shark_fin_pledge
I recommend that you send to your friends.
Stop the trade, Say NO to shark fin products.
