Outdoors sports options in Singapore?  XML

Am contemplating a move from HK to Singapore. Whilst job prospects, housing, cost of living are all favourable in Singapore, what are the outdoors sports options like?

Great thing about HK has been the wide range of activities within 20 minutes of the CBD, including tennis (public courts plentiful & reasonably priced), kayaking & wakeboarding, trekking & mountain biking on the islands, as well as all the adventure races of course.

How does Singapore stack up?

Mike.

Sing doesn't do so badly. True, it misses having those hills for the challenge and views, but there are plenty of watersport opportunities. Wakeboarding is big (and allowed on the reservoirs at times!), and there's a cableski park too. Kayaking is possible, plus there's a few trails for bikers in the green interior and some good

What the city itself lacks, it makes up for with cheap flights to a load of places for a weekend away: Tioman, Bintan (surfing and kiting), dive trips to various dots in the ocean, even a quick hop to Sumatra for really wild country to bike, hike and fly over.

I remember in Mar / April 05 of Action Asia, there is a great feature talking about adventure sport activities in Singapore, try to check from this issue and you should find a lot of useful information in the country

If you don't have it, try to contact Bluc Inc Media in HK whether they still have this back issue. It is good to get back this issue.

I believe Singapore is definitely a city of adventure: the climate makes the outdoors a good place to be all-year-round. and the city is very near to the north of Malaysia and south of Indonesia: that can easily reach many beaches, jungles or offshore retreats.

I know some companies in Singapore that can provide some adventure activities and outdoor sports in the country:

Contact Tim form Eco Adventure
Eco Adventures Worldwide Pte Ltd

Tel: (65)6538.4441 Fax: (65) 6538 9567
E-Mail: eaw@eaw.com.sg

The company deals largely in ecotourism & adventure travel, also cultural trips as well as trips that involve trekking, mountain-biking, rafting, safaris, nature and wildlife trips, etc

Another great things to do in Singapore is diving
